Digitalisation is increasingly taking over in education, which is why schools and universities can no longer avoid the fact of using charging carts for iPad, Chromebooks and laptops.

Young children are growing up with them and students have been using them for a while; phones, iPads, laptops and Chromebooks. It is impossible to imagine this society without the devices.
As a result, you also see more and more schools switching to using digital devices because students are already hugely knowledgeable about them and it helps with teaching efficiency.
With around 24 laptops per class, it is hugely important to store these neatly and safely. Laptop carts have been developed for this purpose.

Laptop carts offer the education sector an easy and quick way to teach. At the beginning of the day, each pupil takes his or her laptop from the cart and then places it back in the loading cart at the end of the day so that they are fully charged the next morning.

So why is a laptop cart in education so important?

Due to the number of children in the classroom, there are naturally many laptops that need to function at the same time. The built-in charging function in these laptop carts will power all laptops simultaneously.

But there is another important aspect to remember, and that is security. Laptops are not cheap and you therefore want to be able to use your device for as long as possible. By using a laptop cart, laptops are immediately provided with security as the devices are stored theft-proof behind locks.

Laptop carts are the ideal solution for education

Digitalisation cannot be avoided and will completely take over within education. Laptops are therefore applicable every class and will need to be cleaned up and charged. Therefore, using a charging cart is a perfect solution to this problem.

The charging trolley is movable due to the castors that can be locked in each classroom where students can then take out their laptops.
After the lesson, the students, or teacher, can put the laptops back in the charging trolley.
The loading trolley can then be driven to another classroom to be used during a lesson or lecture.
At the end of the day, the loading trolley is powered, so that all laptops are fully charged again for the next school day.

What are the pros and cons of a laptop cart?

Of course, it is always important to weigh up the advantages against the disadvantages and make a decision from there. Below are a brief summary of the pros and cons of the laptop cart.

Advantages

  • Mobility. Easy use with four mounted wheels for all kinds of internal locations. Pupils will often need to change classrooms so they can easily move their own charging trolley to their next classroom.
  • Safety! When storing laptops, Chromebooks and other devices, it is important that they are not damaged. Putting them neatly in the cart and on power will keep the devices undamaged.
  • Lockable to prevent theft. A laptop trolley or laptop cabinet often comes with the option of choosing from three locks: a key lock, combination lock or RFID lock. These locks secure the charging trolley against theft and vandalism.
  • Efficient charging. Most trolleys feature smart technology that protects the trolley and laptops from overcharging and surges.
  • Sustainability, with charging and synchronisation, the charging trolley/cabinet is durable and energy-efficient.

Cons

  • Charging carts are often made for a certain number of devices and storage boxes are for a certain inch. Therefore, it is sometimes difficult to immediately find the matching charging cart or charging case.
  • Sockets, USB-A and USB-C. They are three different options for charging your device. Now you're probably thinking super fine three different charging options in one cabinet ideal, unfortunately this is not so. With most carts you have a choice of one of the three options which means you can only use one type of cabling.

Sustainability is the key to the future

Sustainability has become a hugely important aspect in the times we live in. Together, we must ensure that our grandchildren and all those yet to be born can enjoy this world. We are also increasingly seeing charging carts moving with the times and doing their bit here too.

We already briefly discussed that the charging carts are durable due to smart technology such as protection against overcharging and surge voltage.
The safe charging system protects connected devices from electrical damage, extends battery life and saves electricity by automatically shutting down when all devices are fully charged.

The ideal situation: a laptop cart saves energy and is environmentally sustainable at the same time!

Future full of charging carts

Now that we've told you a bit more about charging carts, it's almost impossible to think this away in schools.
But also think of hospitals, libraries or other places where a laptop cart can be put to good use.
Many educational institutions and governments have noticed this and are responding to it.
You notice this because more and more countries like Germany and Austria are working on a roadmap on how to digitalise their country in schools as well and as quickly as possible. This is all with an eye on the future.
